Activity:
- Cambiare which is a musical term meaning "to change" and Kabataan a tagalog word for "youth" is a community youth music program that offers classes, workshops, and performance opportunities to those students who are interested.
- As these students get the chance to learn something such as learning how to play a new instrument, they would perform in the Cambiaré Café which is a once-a-mouth music cafe that hosts the "Youth Coffeehouse Performances" in which they would sell coffee and other drinks as well as some baked goods for the people to enjoy while watching the youth perform on stage.
- I would be going to that place, "Jesus the Christ Center" in Cypress, Irisan every Friday to teach the students there how to play the violin. Since most of the students there is their first time to learn how to play the violin, I would be teaching the basics such as knowing how to hold the bow and the violin. Then learning how to play some simple notes would be then taught.
Learning Goals:
-My personal goals for this activity is to get to be close with the kids first and then knowing whether they know how to play other kinds of instruments. This will show me if they have a passion for music.
- My next goal would be to teach the kids the basic positioning of holding the violin and the bow. Since this is one of the difficult steps in learning how to play the violin, this may take some time for the kids to get used to the positioning.
- After learning the positioning, I would teach them how to read the notes and learn a simple song that they could play.
- Above this, I would want the students to have fun and strengthen their motivation in learning a new instrument, the violin.
- I am looking forward on how I would approach the kids first and how I would make the class lessons productive.
- From this activity, I would be gaining skills in handling the kids and learning how to be a more responsible person in making the lessons.
