Reflection #4 (Creativity) -Model United Nations

This year's MUN was memorable for me as it was my first time to participate the 16th Model United Nations Assembly. In preparation for this day, we met every thursday afternoon to practice making our opening speeches and to get used to speaking formally in third person. We also did lobbying and a short debate. Not only has these meetings helped me to be familiarized with the format of the MUN but also the MUN training that we had in Manila has also strengthened my knowledge of the process.
Before we attended the Assembly, we already had made our opening speeches and researched our countries' stance of the given topic or issue. Despite this, I wasn't able to speak a lot because there were many good speakers that were just amazing. I was perplexed with the real debate and I actually learned more by listening to their speeches. In our group, Jenny Dho and Chester Park were the only ones that were able to go up on the podium and give their speeches. They actually did a good job especially Jenny Dho who was really on the roll. Though we were not able to see the whole conference, due to our bus timing, this was a great opportunity for me to get to meet different kinds of people and befriend them. This assembly is valuable because we get to cooperate with each other and learn the political, environment, social, and human rights issues around the world and gather in one place to solve the issues which was meaningful for me. After the conference, I wanted to join again next time.
I thought Model United Nations would just be a serious and dull debate, but it was the complete opposite. Everyone really enjoyed it and there were also some jokes made during the debate. It was actually very educational and also at the same time fun. I want to recommend this club to my other friends as well and go altogether next time.
